I have been bragging about the Monticello Ingles store and how pleased I have been since moving to the area earlier this year. I had not liked the Ingles stores in Covington, but was very impressed with this one. That ended today! After entering the store and shopping for about 15-20 minutes, it was announced that credit card processing was completely down and only cash would be accepted. I went to the front and checked with the lady behind the counter because I was sure they would take my check. The answer from her was a curt "No." No explanation whatsoever and I told her I could not pay for my groceries. She said I could leave my cart there and they would put them up. After reading on line, it was reported that Hurricane Helene had shut down their computer system so that is perfectly understandable and beyond Ingles' control. What isn't understandable is why no signs jumped out to tell me this upon entering the store to stop me from wasting my time shopping. Furthermore, as was stated in more than one article, Ingles would accept not only cash, but checks. Why was I turned away and told no checks would be accepted? I would think checks would be allowed at such a time, whether it is an antiquated process or not. Not sure I will go back to the Monticello Ingles despite how convenient they are to me.

Sometimes you can find an awesome deal but more times than not 2 bags of groceries cost over $30. Most of the produce is bad or 1-2 days out from going bad. The good majority of the teens or young adults working here have poor attitudes or won't get off their phones long enough to notice a customer trying to get their attention. I sat there one staring at an employee for atleast 5 minutes wondering when she would notice a problem going on with the self checkout before I had to go interrupt her phone conversation to get her to do her job.

Great place got food. But that’s it. This ingles is incredibly minimal. They have no electronics other than batteries. So if you need a phone charger or anything, go somewhere else. The floor employees are really nice, but the managers try to act like they’re more important than they are.

As I've stated with other Ingles locations, the major grocery store chains could all benefit from touring and operating Ingles store. Cleanliness, cheerful staff, an overall Good vibes radiate in an old-fashioned way - something "small town" and lovely. In my own opinion, the produce tends to be fresher, as well.

Tried fie2 days to reach deli to order a fruit tray. Put on hold each time and no one would answer the phone!

Clean store. Some very nice staff and the store mgr is friendly but some of the middle management staff are snippy. Only grocery store in Monticello and the prices are rather high. Nice deli.

This store, has gone from a gracious one star grocery store to the best grocery store I’ve ever been to . The people are warm and friendly and the manager s the same. Just a few years ago it was a terrible place to shop. ‘Rude employees and dirty and never stocked.’ It’s now clean and well stocked and just a completely different place than a few years ago. Gotta give it another try all you guys and gals that quit going. Your going to save gas and love the experience while helping out our local economy.
